“DIsRuPt”, DIgital Rf Power

Wireless data traffic is growing exponentially. As a result, the current (4G) wireless networks are expected to become totally constipated by 2020. To avoid this “data breakdown,” new wireless technologies are needed that can provide a 1000x increase in data capacity while being ecologically and economically viable. This proposal aims to investigate and further develop the commercial viability of the by the TU Delft initiated: “Digital-Intensive Transmitter Technology”. In contrast to today’s analogue intensive solutions, the proposed revolutionary solution benefits directly from Moore’s law and offers much higher integration levels than “traditional” analogue transmitters, while being frequency agile, low cost and more energy efficient.
