Rapid 3D Printing through full-field volumetric photolithography

Feasibility of a radically new approach to additive manufacturing (AM) named Full-field Volumetric Photolithography (FVPL) will be investigated at the national research institute for mathematics and computer science – CWI, Amsterdam. In FVPL, a novel illumination method is applied in a process similar to stereolithography (SLA), potentially leading to a new AM technology that can be orders of magnitude faster than the existing analogues. This feasibility study, funded by the NWO Take-Off program, will reveal whether a new type of 3D printers based on FVPL can indeed be built and in case of success will serve as a seedfunding for further development of this technology.
