Virtual Chemist

Recycling of plastic waste into high quality products, is facing major constraints caused by the plurality of materials used in plastic products. Even after plastic waste has been separated, a significant percentage of unknown contaminants remains in the material, which makes reuse in high quality products difficult, due to the negative effects that contaminants have.

Polytential realised there was a strong demand from recyclers for a solution and decided to create a Virtual Chemist. The Virtual Chemist allows recyclers to gain insight into the type and degree of contamination. Because recyclers now know which pollutants are present in their material, they can efficiently mitigate for the negative effects of these contaminants. This allows recyclers to make a higher quality product, while cutting on costs made in mitigating for the pollutants.

The Virtual Chemist is a smart quality analysis tool, which combines state of the art sensing technology with artificial intelligence, to create fast and reliable analysis. It provides lab quality analysis, with bulk throughputs, thereby making it useful for all types of recyclers.

A first Virtual Chemist will be made available to recyclers already during execution of the AES-project.
