Manometric: Automated workflow from 3D scan to customized 3D printed orthotics

Together with medical professionals we have developed the first workflow that makes perfectly fitting 3D printed braces a reality. Current (hand-)braces – which are used to relieve pain and to support or fixate a body part – often don’t fit well and are perceived as uncomfortable, heavy, sweaty and ugly. This results in extremely low patient compliance: 50% of these braces end up in the closet.

3D technology offers many advantages: a much more accurate customized fit which results in greater comfort, numerous options for personalization based on functional and aesthetic preferences and additional medical functionalities. Currently there is no cost-effective workflow for creating 3D printed braces. We are creating the orthotics workflow of the future, which provides the missing puzzle piece for connecting 3D scanning and 3D printing: accessible software which allows a  orthopedic professional to make important patient-specific adjustments. For our potential customers: orthopedic companies, hospitals and clinics, we provide a more accurate and efficient workflow, which also allows them to track how their input affects patient progress – providing a valuable feedback loop which did not exist before.

The real revolution is not just 3D technology, it is shifting the orthotics industry from an experience-based workflow towards an evidence-based workflow.
