Social Interaction and Physical Activity in Spatial Augmented Exertion Interfaces

Exertion interfaces have the potential to facilitate social interaction and physical activity amongst youth, activating them towards a healthier lifestyle. Knowledge about the effectiveness of interactive features and technology, and the interrelationship between social interaction and exertion in spatial augmented reality exertion interfaces is currently lacking.
Based on existing exertion interfaces and previous research, pilot prototypes, followed by high fidelity prototypes will be designed and developed to enhance social interaction and physical activity amongst youth following a research through design approach. All prototypes will be tested and evaluated on technology, interactive features, social interaction, physical activity, and their interrelationship.
