Development of teacher competence throughout the professional career: an interpersonal perspective

Samenvatting

The proposed research investigates the development of various components of teacher interpersonal competence throughout the career (behavioural repertoire, teachers? practical knowledge, orientations towards teacher-student relations, as well as their interrelations) and their relationship with the quality of teacher career (attrition, burnout, work engagement), work characteristics and personal factors. Three PhD projects will be proposed that collect an integral data set including secondary teachers who have just started their career (beginner), who have been teaching ten to fifteen years (experienced) and teachers with more than twenty years of experience (senior).
