Literacy-related attributes of at-risk risk students in grades 7-9

Samenvatting

In partial study 3 we investigate to what extent the decrease or resilience of literacy skills (reading and writing in Dutch) of 20 native Dutch and 20 nonnative at-risk students are associated with a variety of abilities (various types of linguistic knowledge, fluency of linguistic skills, metacognition, self regulation, verbal memory capacity, non-verbal intelligence) and with affective variables (literacy-related attitudes and motivations). The aim is to cluster students around a number of prototypical profiles, each with its own typical longitudinal pattern of decrease or resilience of literacy and associated ability & affective variables.
