Senior expert at CGIAR Collaborative Platform for Gender Research and Flagship 6 CRP Policies, Institutions and Markets

As Coordinator of CGIAR Collaborative Platform for Gender Research I work closely with the CGIAR Research Program on Policies, Institutions, and Markets (PIM) and gender researchers system-wide to support and promote CGIAR gender research. Through the Platform, CGIAR researchers learn from one another and contribute to the growing body of knowledge on gender and agriculture/natural resource management internationally. Activities include: annual scientific conferences and capacity development workshops (2017 KIT in Amsterdam; 2018 ILRI Campus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; 2019 at Canberra University, jointly with ACIAR); annual campaigns (International Women’s Day, International Day for Rural Women); quarterly newsletters; a blog on Engendering Data and Methods; monthly webinars profiling gender research; and, management of the website. A key objective of the Platform is to build a system-wide gender research agenda, assessing priorities and identifying gaps. To reach this objective a call for gender research proposals goes out annually (e.g. 2017 Gender Dynamics in Seed Systems, 2018 Feminization of Agriculture, 2019 Gender Dynamics in Value Chains) to allow comparison and analysis across CGIAR domains on a common theme. I coordinate the call, select proposals and lead synthesis of findings. A report showcasing key CGIAR gender research is being written (2019) and developed into a book (2020-21), setting a forward-looking gender research agenda. While the Platform leadership and hosting is currently in a competitive process, PIM will see through all products supported from January 2017-December 2019. I will work on these outputs in 2019, 2020 and 2021, regardless of the outcome of this process
