NORFACE (New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Co-operation in Europe)

NORFACE (New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Co-operation in Europe) is a collaborative partnership of national research funding agencies from 20 European countries in the area of social and behavioural sciences.

Purpose

NORFACE offers participating agencies the opportunity to develop common research funding instruments, and creates opportunities for supporting existing networks and for building new networks of research collaboration in the social sciences. Partners

NORFACE was founded in 2004. National research funding agencies from the following countries are affiliated as members of the network: Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Iceland, Luxembourg, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

NORFACE is also in a partnership with research funding agencies from Belgium and Canada, the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (FORTE) and with the North European network of NordForsk.

NORFACE receives support from the European Commission in the form of an ERA-NET Cofund. ERA-NET (European Research Area Networks) is the European Commission's policy instrument for the coordination of national research programs in Europe. In an ERA-NET Cofund, collaboration and coordination among European research funding agencies is facilitated.
