The aim of the programme Urbanising Deltas of the World (UDW) is to increase knowledge about river deltas worldwide and to contribute to water safety, food security, and to sustainable economic development in these areas.

A three day meeting was held in Vietnam from 25-27 January 2016 to promote knowledge sharing between the Urbanising Deltas of the World (UDW) research projects, and relevant research and implementation programmes. The conference leaded to embedding the UDW projects in a wider community of practice in order to increase their academic quality, societal impact and sustainability.

Six integrated research projects granted

In November 2015, NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development granted six projects as part of the second call for proposals within the Urbanising Deltas of the World Programme. The projects cover a variety of innovative approaches towards challenges in delta areas in Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, and Ghana. The kick-off took place in The Hague at 9 May 2016.
