NWO makes 1 million euros of the total of 6.7 million euros available for the Joint Programming Initiative of Cultural Heritage and Global Change (JPICH). The ‘Conservation, Protection and Use' call supports research into strategies, methodologies and tools to safeguard and use the physical components of our cultural heritage. It invites research projects that take a global approach to preserving Europe's heritage and which result in a better understanding of our history, traditions and culture, of our individual and collective identities, and ultimately of our well-being.

For 2019 a budget of 580,000 euros is available for the programme Creative Industry - Knowledge Innovation Mapping (KIEM). The dates for the assessment moments in 2019 are set on thursday, May 30 14:00 hrs CET and thursday 12 September 14.00 hrs CET.

NWO has made 3 million euros available for research into digitalisation issues at the interface of citizenship, new types of governance, identity and participation. The call for proposals ties in with the Digital Society Research Agenda of the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and is part of the innovation contract with the Top Sector Creative Industry and the top sector overarching theme ICT.

Society is permeated with developments that have become possible due to digital technology. This digitalisation brings an infinite number of possibilities but also risks and threats and raises major societal questions. Since technological and social developments go hand-in-hand with digitalisation, the NWO Domain Social Sciences and Humanities is publishing three new calls in the area of digitalisation this spring. From the perspective of different starting points, underlying agendas, partners and agenda structure, the calls strengthen each other and cover a large part of the digital research domain. Now, more than ever, digitalisation is on the agenda.

NWO awarded funding many projects in the programme Creative Industry - Knowledge Innovation Mapping (KIEM). The projects contribute to the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda 2018-2021 of CLICKNL and to the knowledge base of the creative industry. With a KIEM grant of €15,000 researchers can set up a collaboration between knowledge institutes and private parties.
