NWO and Plantum would like to invite researchers to share their ideas and to join in the route to climate smart plant production. Ensured quality, harvest certainty and resilience are main issues for plant production of the near future. Because of their world leading position, Dutch plant breeding companies have a huge impact on the global availability of solutions for production challenges when it comes to biotic stresses and productivity under normal conditions. But for the challenges on abiotic stresses, there is a lack of knowledge.

Today, science celebrates its first international day of 'LGBT+ people in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics'. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. Studies show that people in this group often struggle to openly be themselves out in the open which affects the academic climate. NWO pursues a diversity policy with emphasis on gender equality. A concrete example was the signing of Gender Equality Plans by four NWO institutes during Physics@Veldhoven on 22 January 2018. The plans describe clear actions and milestones and first results are visible.
Diversity and inclusiveness are indispensable for science. If science wants to be relevant for society then it needs to reflect the various identities and perceptions that exist within society. To boost the careers of female scientists, facilitate their promotion to higher positions, and to generate attention for the various dimensions of diversity and inclusiveness, the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and the Dutch Network of Women Professors (LNVH) are organising a talent day on Wednesday 12 December 2018 at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht.
