There is a time limit attached to the Talent Scheme (TS), an NWO funding programme for researchers, which specifies until when researchers can submit a proposal after obtaining their PhD. Until now, the submission deadline had already been extended by 18 months per child for biological mothers. Now the other parent will also receive an extension of 6 months per child.

On Wednesday 18 April, the Innovative Medical Devices Initiative (IMDI) 2.0 kick-off took place in Utrecht. During the afternoon, Hans Rietman, chair of the steering group IMDI 2.0, presented the follow-up to the IMDI grant programme. In the 2.0 version of IMDI, the NWO Responsible Innovation programme approach will be an important aspect.

The NWO executive board has awarded funding to ten proposals in the National Roadmap for Large-Scale Scientific Infrastructure. The total amount granted is 138 million euros. Today the Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Ingrid van Engelshoven, presented the ten roadmap certificates at Utrecht Science Park. Funds for the National Roadmap Large-Scale Scientific Infrastructure make it possible to build or modernise top research facilities with an international allure.
Today, NWO announced its new strategy for the period 2019-2022. The strategic plan describes five ambitions of NWO to facilitate the scientific and societal impact of Dutch research in the coming years. This requires an effective organisation that focuses on the connection within science and between science and society.

In the afternoon of Tuesday 8 May, NWO and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science are organising a festive meeting to mark the start of the new research programme for the Dutch National Research Agenda. The meeting will take place from 14:30 to 16:30 in Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam.

17 researchers who have recently received their PhDs can do their research at foreign research institutes thanks to a Rubicon grant from NWO. The Rubicon programme gives young, highly promising researchers the opportunity to gain international research experience.
