  • 32 million euro for top-level technological research

    21 November 2017

In the coming years almost a hundred researchers are going to develop innovative technologies together with industry and social organisations. That will happen in six new Perspectief programmes, which have been given the green light by NWO, Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. The programmes should lead to a new 3D printer for large metal components, more efficient deep-learning systems, extreme microscopy, new bacteria for the chemical industry, injury-free exercise and wearable robotics for people suffering from muscular disorders.

  • NWO will simplify research funding instruments

    6 November 2017

During the course of 2018, NWO will implement a simplified set of funding instruments in all its domains. From 1 August 2018 onwards, researchers will be able to submit proposals for the first calls published in accordance with this new model. With this measure, the NWO Executive Board intends to create a higher degree of clarity in the research funding and a better connection between the domains for multidisciplinary research proposals.

    16 May 2017

Is a cybercriminal a new type of offender or an ‘old’ offender working in a new field? What are cybercriminals’ revenue models? Can you make potential victims more resilient? Cybercrime is not just a matter of technology: there are always people involved. The research agenda ‘The Human Factor in Cybercrime and Cybersecurity’ contains 22 authors’ accounts of the current status of academic research into the role played by human aspects.

  • NWO investing in research infrastructure

    24 April 2017

The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has awarded four projects in the fields of Physical Sciences and of Social and Behavioural Sciences under the programme Investment Grant NWO Medium. Many researchers depend on large devices for their work. Through Investment Grants NWO Medium, NWO funds facilities that are often too expensive for individual groups.
