The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and NWO are offering funding opportunities for bilateral research cooperation between Dutch and Chinese research groups. Every year, CAS and NWO launch a call for joint research proposals. The intention is to open a call in the field of Radio Astronomy in March 2017.

The successful first edition of the 'Computational Sciences for Future Energy Conference' will be continued. The conference will bring together the Dutch research community in computational science for energy applications on 19 and 20 September in Eindhoven. The conference is organized and sponsored by Shell and NWO.

The e-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG) has published a new version of its Roadmap document. The e-IRG Roadmap 2016 is taking up the e-Infrastructure Commons concept. The document intends to define a clear route on how to evolve the European e-Infrastructure system further. e-IRGSP5 builds on the experiences of the previous e-IRG support programmes within the Horizon 2020 programme subsidy from the European Commission. The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) is involved since 2006.

The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has awarded 34 leading scientists a Vici grant worth one and half million euros. Vici is one of the largest grants for individual scientists in the Netherlands and is part of NWO's Talent Scheme. The funding will enable the scientists to develop their own innovative research line for the next five years and build up their own research group.
