New call Living labs for the restoration of rural biodiversity

28 November 2019

The new call Living labs for the restoration of rural biodiversity (Living labs voor het herstel van biodiversiteit in het landelijk gebied) is accepting applications from December 2019. This research programme is an association between NWO and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) within the framework of the Dutch National Research Agenda (NWA). The programme aims to promote practical collaborations between science and social stakeholders. The deadline for submission of proposals for living labs in this call is 2 March 2020. After a first selection round we will invite three living labs proposals to submit a joint research proposal, with a maximum budget of €4.35 million. If you are interested in this call, make a note of an important date: on Friday afternoon (2-5pm) 17 January 2020 NWO is holding an information session in Utrecht.

Social, economic and ecological aspects of biodiversity

The call is aimed at the restoration of rural biodiversity. This covers everything from measures promoting biodiversity, and accomplishments and indicators that measure success, to an integrated approach generating understanding of how this translates into ecological benefits. This NWA programme is concerned with the social and economic benefits of biodiversity as well as with its ecological aspects.

Biodiversity Recovery Delta Plan

Living labs for the restoration of rural biodiversity is a research programme in support of the Biodiversity Recovery Delta Plan (www.samenvoorbiodiversiteit.nl). It favours an integrated approach, with the explicit involvement of social stakeholders, ideally reflected in the composition of the consortium and its working methods.

Information session

On Friday afternoon, 17 January 2020 NWO is holding an information session for all interested parties, at which the aims of the call and its working methods will be detailed further. The meeting also offers an excellent opportunity to converse with potential consortium partners. The session will be held at NWO Utrecht (Winthontlaan 2, Utrecht).

A detailed programme will be made available in December. If you are interested in attending the session, or would like to receive more information, please register at nwa-herstelbiodiversiteit@nwo.nl. The latest news about our calls is also published in our fortnightly newsletter; you can subscribe to this at www.nwo.nl/nieuwsbrief.
