Sign up for matchmaking event Partnership NWO-Plantum

19 July 2018

NWO and Plantum would like to invite researchers to share their ideas and to join in the route to climate smart plant production. Ensured quality, harvest certainty and resilience are main issues for plant production of the near future. Because of their world leading position, Dutch plant breeding companies have a huge impact on the global availability of solutions for production challenges when it comes to biotic stresses and productivity under normal conditions. But for the challenges on abiotic stresses, there is a lack of knowledge.

Partnership programme

To be able to maintain the world leading position, the Dutch plant breeding companies, united in the Plantum association, are willing to invest in a research programme on abiotic stress. NWO Domains Applied and Engineering Sciences (AES) and Science are willing to invest in this topic too, but only if there is enough interest from Dutch universities to submit research proposals. Therefore the NWO Domains AES and Science and Plantum would like to invite all Dutch universities to present their ideas on how to build up the requested knowledge and knowhow  in plant sciences, technical solutions and tools and any other new form for plant breeding companies.

Matchmaking event

In the morning of Thursday 20 September 2018 Plantum and NWO Domains AES and Science jointly host/organise an inspirational and matchmaking event (exact time and place to be announced). Both research institutes and companies are therefore invited to meet each other and each other’s ideas. If there are enough high potential matches for good research projects, NWO and Plantum will define the call text and start the programme. Of note, this invitation is for scientific groups working in plant science, but also for every other scientific group that believes to be able to contribute in mastering the challenges on abiotic stress. The matchmaking event can also be used for research institutes to find academic partners to jointly work on a research proposal with companies.

Interested researchers can sign up for the matchmaking event by sending an e-mail  to More information about the set-up and participating companies of the matchmaking will then be sent.
