New call for proposals for Internationalisation in the Humanities in 2018

30 August 2017

In 2018, the NWO Domain Social Sciences and Humanities will organise one more call for proposals for Internationalisation in the Humanities. The call for proposals will open in late November and the deadline for submitting proposals will be Thursday 1 March 2018.

The NWO research council is currently undergoing major changes. This will have implications for both NWO research funding and for the funding instruments. Since January of this year, the newly formed Board of the NWO Domain Social Sciences and Humanities has been responsible for safeguarding a balanced supply of funding instruments in the broad area of the social sciences and the humanities. In other words it is ensuring that there are sufficient opportunities to fund curiosity-driven and thematic research within the social sciences and the humanities.

Reviewing and transforming existing NWO funding options for the social sciences and the humanities is a lengthy process. Allowing the annual call for proposals for Internationalisation in the Humanities to proceed as usual in 2018 will create sufficient time and opportunity for a thorough analysis of the mix of funding instruments that NWO offers for the Social Sciences and the Humanities, and for that mix to be altered where necessary.

The domain board will inform interested parties about funding-related policy developments via the NWO website and NWO newsletters.

Internationalisation in the Humanities

The Internationalisation in the Humanities grant is intended to encourage collaboration between Dutch and foreign research groups in the field of the humanities. In addition, NWO wants to foster the formation of international networks in the humanities and to encourage funding proposals from the humanities to international agencies.
