Realising the transition

In the Dutch Cabinet's Science Vision and in the new strategy of NWO it was announced that the NWO organisation will be modernised to realise a more flexible, stronger and coherent NWO. The contours of the future organisation were announced on 14 April 2015. The transition of the organisation will affect all NWO units.

No changes to funding instruments and procedures 2015

NWO realises that researchers must be able to prepare in good time for any changes to the procedures. As soon as more is known about any such changes then this will be communicated. In 2015 no changes will be made to the funding instruments and procedures.

Interim director of FOM

Christa Hooijer (physicist, 1972), the current deputy director of NWO Physics, is the intended interim director of FOM, dependent on an advice from the Central Works Council of FOM. Wim van Saarloos (physicist, 1955) will resign as director of FOM, a position he has held since 2009, with effect from 1 June 2015.

Steering group

The steering group is made up of all members of the Governing Board of NWO (Jos Engelen, Franciska de Jong, Marianne de Visser and Cees Veerman), director general of NWO, Hans de Groene, and representatives from the four intended domains: Pieter Hooimeijer (Social Sciences), Niek Lopes Cardozo (FOM/Physics), Pauline Meurs (Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development) and Ton van der Steen (Technology Foundation STW). Furthermore, one chair from a board of an NWO institute, Ybo Buruma (Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement), is a member of the steering group. An experienced administrator from the university sector will be asked to fulfill the role of technical chair of the steering group.
