Registration is closed

The registration for Physics@Veldhoven 2019 is closed. The deadline was Friday 9 November at 12:00 (noon).

Monday evening

Attending the Monday evening meeting is for group leaders only.

Costs

Attending Physics@Veldhoven 2019 is free of charge. However, registered participants who do not attend and who fail to cancel, will be charged €200,00.

Communications workshop

After the successful communication workshop last year, NWO and the NNV jointly organise a communication workshop again on Tuesday 22 January. Diederik Jekel (science journalist and chairman of the NNV) takes you into the world of science communication and tells you how to get your 'Physics outside'.

Speed dates Science Communication

After the communication workshop you can go on a speed date with an expert in science communication. During the speed date you can ask questions about, among other things, writing texts, using social media and dealing with the media. The registration for these speed dates will open later, on the registration form you can express your interest.

Science for Society

You are invited to attend the Science for Society event, a follow up of Physics meets Industry. At this Science for Society event researchers and companies will meet and inspire each other. This event is open to all participants, including PhD students and Postdocs. On Wednesday 23 January 2019 you can go on a speed date with a number of companies and/or networking organisations, pitch your research ideas, or explore career opportunities. Participants and companies are invited to express their interest in this event in the online registration form.

Following the speed dating there will be a Science for Society focus session, which focuses on how researchers and companies can come together to tackle societal challenges. The programme offers ample networking opportunities. More information about Science for Society can be found here.

Hotels

Participants will be staying in one of nine hotels: NH Koningshof , NH Best, NH Geldrop, Bastion Eindhoven, Pullman Eindhoven, Best Western Eindhoven, Carlton de Brug Mierlo, NH Collections Eindhoven en Harba Lorifa Valkenswaard (for MSc-students).

Please take the following into account:

  • We cannot accommodate preferences for one of the hotels.
  • Once allocated to a hotel, we shall not change it to another.
  • Single rooms are available for permanent staff only.
  • Postdocs and PhD candidates will be staying in double rooms. Please indicate a preferred roommate when registering for the conference. If no roommate is indicated, the organisation will allocate one.
  • MSc students will be staying in Harba Lorifa Valkenswaard.

Bus service

NWO will provide a bus service between Eindhoven Central Station and NH Koningshof on Tuesday and Wednesday morning and between NH Koningshof and Eindhoven Central Station on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon. If you wish to use this bus service, please indicate this on your registration form.

NWO will also provide free transportation to the other hotels on Tuesday evening after the evening programme and on Wednesday morning in time for the morning sessions.

Childcare

NWO offers free professional childcare at the conference venue for all participants of Physics@Veldhoven. If you have requested childcare in your registration, you will be contacted. If you have any questions, please contact us at physicsveldhoven@nwo.nl.
