Security & Rule of Law in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Settings

The Security & Rule of Law research programme provides grants for research and/or ideas that contribute to new knowledge and insights on improvement of security and rule of law policies and interventions in specific fragile and conflict affected settings in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs).

Purpose

The Security & Rule of Law Research Programme implements the research part of the Knowledge Platform Security & Rule of Law. This platform is one of five knowledge platforms that have been set up in response to the need of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands to enhance the use and coordination of demand-driven knowledge on development.

Projects funded by the Security & Rule of Law Research Programme should contribute to ideas or knowledge on (implementation of) security and rule of law policies, both within (inter)national organisations and in organisations located in specific LMICs.

The programme consists of two separate funding instruments:

  • The Strategic Research Fund (SRF)
  • The Applied Research Fund (ARF)
