Science Diplomacy Fund

NWO will establish the Science Diplomacy Fund to fund scientific activities that potentially improve diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and partner countries.

Purpose

Activities eligible for funding are 'science for diplomacy' activities: scientific activities that positively contribute to the diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and partner countries. Activities also contribute to the visibility and international position of Dutch science. A maximum of €20.000 can be applied for in each round. Activities can, for instance, be scientific seminars or workshops or seminars/workshops at the intersection of science and policy on topics that help to improve bilateral relationships between the Netherlands and the partner country. These seminars or workshops will be organised by scientific researchers (possibly in collaboration with NWO or Embassies). Expenses for travel and stay for organisers, speakers or participants can be linked to these activities and can be included in the proposal.

Who can apply

Researchers with a tenured position at one of the following knowledge institutions can submit an application: Dutch Universities, University Medical Centres, KNAW- and NWO-institutes, NKI, MPI Nijmegen, researchers from the Dubble beamline at the ESRF in Grenoble, NCB Naturalis, the Advanced Research Centre for NanoLithography (ARCNL) and the Prinses Máxima Centrum.

What to apply for

Researchers can apply for material costs and travel expenses for organisers, speakers and participants.

When to apply

  • All applications must be submitted by 10 March 2020, 14:00 CET.
