Rebuttal to peer review

Applicants can respond to the referees' assessments.

Referees' report

The referees' assessments are collated in a referees' report. NWO sends this report to the applicant. The applicant is given about one week to respond. In the rebuttal, the applicant may provide additional information requested by the referees, and refute any misconceptions and differences in insight of the referees.

Sometimes, the referees' assessments contain such substantial remarks that the research proposal should effectively be reformulated. A rebuttal does not provide this opportunity. In such cases, NWO's advice to an applicant is to withdraw the proposal.
