Computer Science is part of the NWO Domain Science (ENW). The Computer Science Roundtable is an important advisory body for the NWO Domain Science Board.
Dutch Computer Science research is among the best in the world. At the same time there is much potential and need for growth, which is partly due to the increasing dependency on ICT. As a funding body, NWO contributes to scientific research and it also acts as a reliable intermediary between companies and knowledge institutions. NWO does this so that researchers can excel, opportunities for innovation increase, and support for the importance of the research grows.
NWO maintains strong links with researchers, public partners and private partners in the field of ICT, for example through the organisation of the annual ICT congress ICT.OPEN and the event ICT with Industry. A good connection with other organisational units of NWO, ZonMw and other knowledge institutions is also vital. NWO supports the office of the ICT-Research Platform Netherlands (IPN).
NWO stimulates collaborations and strategic programmes within several top sectors that are relevant for computer science and that align with the Dutch National Research Agenda. NWO is also involved in national and international developments in ICT and puts research on the European and global agendas.
