The NWO Domain Social Science and Humanities is collaborating with many countries, including China, India, Indonesia, Brazil and Mexico. And via WOTRO Science for Global Development, NWO funds research related to sustainable development and poverty alleviation.

Transatlantic: Transatlantic Platform for the Social Sciences and Humanities (T-AP)
The Transatlantic Platform for the Social Sciences and Humanities focusses on deepening collaboration and exploring the possibilities for setting up thematic research programmes with research organisations in Europe, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and the United States. A concrete example is the Digging into Data Challenge that encourages collaborations between researchers in the areas of computer science, humanities and cultural heritage. NWO is also a member of the Belmont Forum, which stimulates interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research worldwide.

China, Indonesia, India
The Netherlands also has its own long-term collaborations with India, China and Brazil that consider a different theme each year. India and the Netherlands collaborate in the field of social sciences through the programme Social Science Collaboration India – the Netherlands. Via JPI Urban Europe, China and the Netherlands are jointly investigating problems related to urban development. Indonesia and NWO have programmes to tackle scientific and societal issues that are important for both countries.
