Samenvatting
In this project direct numerical simulations of particle-laden inhomogeneous turbulent flow are performed. The project has three objectives. The first is the determination of coefficients in Langevin models for particle dispersion in inhomogeneous turbulent flow and the subsequent testing of these models. The second objective is subgrid modeling in large-eddy simulation of partilce-laden flow. Information from direct numerical simulation is required for this. The third objective is the extension of the investigation of heat transfer enhancement by inertial particles in turbulent channel flow to high Reynolds numbers.
