Samenvatting
There are indications that young women (15-24 year) from Hindustani, Turkish and Moroccan background suffer from severe mental health problems and more often contemplate and attempt to commit suicide than either autochthonous Dutch young women or young men from their ethnic group.
This project aims to establish whether this is so and to account for the apparent relation between suicidal behaviour, gender and ethnicity. In an epidemiological part it will be established whether they are indeed more suicidal. A qualitative part aims to get insight in the interplay of factors that lead these young women to contemplate suicide.
