FOCUS

Het doel van het FOCUS-programma was talentvolle informaticaonderzoekers scouten en opleiden. Het programma kwam voort uit de Nationale Onderzoeksagenda Informatica (NOAG-i) 2001-2005.

In FOCUS stonden vier NOAG-i-thema's centraal:

  • Algorithms and Formal Methods (AFM)
  • Intelligent Systems (IS)
  • Modelling, Simulation and Visualization (MSV)
  • Parallel and Distributed Computing (PDC)

FOCUS was het open gedeelte van het Bsik-programma BRICKS. Bsik is het Besluit subsidies investeringen kennisinfrastructuur: een breed opgezet, nationaal stimuleringsprogramma voor onderzoek. BRICKS staat voor Basic Research in Informatics for Creating the Knowledge Society.

Het Bsik-programma BRICKS wil fundamenteel informaticaonderzoek in Nederland een impuls te geven.

De onderzoeksprojecten van FOCUS zijn toegevoegd aan het BRICKS-programma. In 2009 is het BRICKS-programma afgesloten.
