New article online at Research for Global Development

WOTRO’s new website ‘Research for Global Development’ now features a story on the research of economist Tausi Kida. In her study on healthcare liberalization and urban poverty in Tanzania she shows that in the last decades the urban poor have become completely dependent on private healthcare centers. The services these centers provide are often expensive, of low quality and sometimes even illegal. The recommendations in Kida’s research have already led the Tanzanian government to introduce important measures to improve the situation.
