New WOTRO website ‘Research for Global Development’
22 augustus 2011
WOTRO’s new website, www.researchforglobaldevelopment.nl features striking examples of pioneering research into global development issues. Over the coming months, some of WOTRO’s leading researchers will be submitting articles and video clips that show how their research projects offer effective and sustainable solutions to today’s most pressing global challenges. WOTRO plans to use this website to demonstrate why research is so significant in addressing issues such as food security, climate change and poverty.
Dutch scientists have always had a particular interest in global development issues, and the standard of their research in this area is world renowned. With this website, WOTRO aims to make global development research projects more visible, and to reinforce the Netherlands’ strong position in the field.
Over the coming months, a number of Dutch ministries will be setting out new knowledge and innovation policies. It is WOTRO’s wish that global issues should continue to be analyzed and addressed on the basis of well-founded knowledge. Because global challenges affect low-income as well as high-income countries, problems that occur in the South have a direct impact on the North and vice versa. This means that research into global development issues is as essential for the Netherlands as it is for developing countries.
The Research for Global Development website will feature new research stories regularly. You can stay updated by subscribing to the newsletter, and you can also follow WOTRO on Twitter (@WOTRO) and Facebook.
