Organisation
Currently, the organizational structure of the Netherlands Polar Programme is changed. How the structure will look like is still unknown.
The Committee on Polar Research (CPO) and the Dutch SCAR Committee, the international delegation of SCAR, are both dissolved and merged with the Dutch Polar Committee (NPC). This NPC is composed of researchers, the manager and the secretary of the NPP and has an independent chair, Mrs. J.M. de Vries, former chair of the Steering Committee Polar Programme (SPP). The former SPP represented the financiers of the Dutch Polar Programme. The SPP previously decided on the allocations within the Dutch Polar Programs.
Other matters (budget, etc.) are covered by the Interdepartmental Polar Consultative Body (IPO) which is chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition to the funding members of the NPP a number of consultants appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs join the IPO.
The Netherlands Polar Committee is responsible for the delegation of Dutch researchers in the Scientific Working Groups of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR). This Dutch representation is funded by the NPP. An overview of current Dutch delegates can be found here.
