‘Women in Chemistry - The elements of success’
After the success of 2008, NWO Chemical Sciences proudly presents the
second edition of ‘Women in Chemistry - The elements of success’.
This event for every woman working in the chemical sciences aims at
enhancing the interaction between female researchers and their
visibility within the academic world.
NWO offers a varied programme, with female researchers presenting their
research and career path, and several workshops on networking,
presenting yourself and writing grants. Inbetween there is enough
opportunity to meet, interact and exchange experiences with each other.
What: ‘Women in Chemistry-The elements of success’
When: Friday 27th May, 2011, from 10.00-17.30
Where: Regardz meeting center ‘De Eenhoorn’ in Amersfoort, route
Why:
- Meet and interact with other women who have succesfully pursued an academic career

Discuss university policies regarding female staff, prejudice and career opportunities

Learn about creating your network, presenting yourself and writing articles
What to expect:
- Listen to and discuss with prof. Claire Wyman (Erasmus MC), recipient of the NWO Aspasia premium and a Vici grant), and with dr Nathalie Katsonis (RUG), recent recipient of a Vidi grant.
- Follow two of four workshops:
o Grant applications: increasing your success rate
o Networking
o Personal presentation
o Write it right -
Participate in a group discussion with individuals who know all about women and scientific careers

Registration and participation in the meeting is free for female PhD students in the last two years of their research, postdocs, ‘Vernieuwingsimpuls’-laureates and young female researchers in the industry. There are only a limited number of places available in the workshops and seats will be allocated on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
The entire meeting will be held in English.
