International Polar Year 2007 - 2008

Starting and coordinating grants

Next to the grants for research projects, a number of starting (in advance of the "regular" coordinating and research grants) and coordinating grants were awarded. These grants were meant to allow the coordination of international projects by Dutch scientists. This lead to six international IPY projects being led by Dutch scientists:

The dynamic response of Arctic glaciers to global warming

Coordinator: Prof. dr. J. Oerlemans
Organisation: Utrecht University - Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research Utrecht

GEOTRACES (abstract)
An international study of the biogeochemical cycles of Trace Elements and Isotopes in the Arctic and Southern Oceans
