NCF and SARA announce Wim Nieuwpoort Award

In order to advance scalability of applications NCF and SARA have the pleasure to announce the Wim Nieuwpoort Award, after the founder of the national high-performance computing infrastructure in the Netherlands, professor emeritus Wim Nieuwpoort of the University of Groningen, who has been chair of NCF’s Scientific Committee (WGS) and temporary director of SARA Computing and Network Services.
This annual Award will be awarded to the research team, located at a Dutch university or scientific institute, which proves to be able to run a serious scientific application efficiently on a significant part of a large HPC-system. The WGS will be responsible for the review of the proposals. The Wim Nieuwpoort Award will consist of an amount of € 5000 and a visit to the annual supercomputing & communications conference in November in the United States, during which conference the research and scalability results can be presented in the Dutch booth.
Applications must be submitted through NWO’s IRIS system as a new application.
