Four Integrated Programmes awarded 2010
14 June 2010
As result of the Integrated Programmes subsidy of 2009-2010, the WOTRO board awarded four new Integrated Programmes. Each programme consists of three or more (inter)related Ph.D. and/or post-doc projects. The Integrated Programme scheme is aimed at supporting excellent problem-oriented interdisciplinary research to the benefit of development and societal issues in the South.
An Integrated Programme may address developmental and societal issues: in a broad sense that may lead to new insights, theories and/or breakthroughs in current knowledge and understanding or fitting within one or more of four themes of WOTRO’s framework: (A) Poverty and Hunger; (B) Sustainable Environment; and (C) Global Relationships.
The following programmes have been awarded with a grant:
- Understanding the current wave in globalisation: the segmented outcomes of offshore service development in Mumbai and Manila
- Experimenting for Sustainability in India and Thailand: A transitions perspective on sustainable electricity and mobility initiatives
- Linking local action to international climate agreements in the tropical dry forests of Mexico
- GROUNDING LAND GOVERNANCE - Land Conflicts, Local Governance and Decentralization in Post-Conflict Uganda, Burundi and Southern Sudan
