MultiVis workshop

9 juni 2010 12:30-16.00

LUMC Leiden

The final workshop of the NWO/VIEW Project “A Multi-modal Visualisation Environment for Interactive Analysis of Medical Data” (Multi-Vis).

Multi-Vis researchers explored possibilities for making semi-automated segmentation of medical image data more intuitive by applying novel visualization and interaction techniques. Through the series of experiments, they evaluated task performance and subjective user preferences for various interaction and display devices (e.g., mouse, force-feedback devices, virtual glove, auto-stereoscopic display, etc.). Based on the main experimental findings, several adaptation rules have been formulated and implemented as part of an adaptation engine, which maps user tasks and personal characteristics onto technical requirements for specific devices. The demonstration prototype of a multi-modal visualization environment developed in this project allows end-users (e.g., radiologists) to alternate desktop visualization and virtual reality while performing interactive steering tasks.
