Home CW Studiegroepen
Onder het gebied Chemische Wetenschappen (CW) zijn zestien studiegroepen actief. Studiegroepen organiseren jaarlijks een bijeenkomst, maar zijn ook een belangrijk forum voor het chemisch onderzoek. De bestuursleden van een studiegroep zijn vaak het aanspreekpunt voor het Gebiedsbestuur van CW voor het betreffende wetenschapsgebied.
CHAINS2011
On 28, 29 and 30 November NWO Chemical Sciences together with KNCV organized the largest Dutch chemical conference ever in DeFabrique in Maarssen: CHAINS2011 (Chemistry As INovating Science). With 1,400 participants the turnout was high. Never before did all disciplines of chemistry come together at one conference. The goal was transfer of knowledge and cross-fertilization of knowledge between the chemical disciplines to make new insights and innovative chemical research possible. The key issue was how chemistry can provide sustainable solutions to problems such as global shortages in materials, health and sustainable fuel.
The programme included the full scope of present-day chemistry. Seven speakers of international renown gave a lecture including Nobel laureate Roger Kornberg. There were more than 160 parallel session, 400 poster presentations, workshops and an fair. With the stunt CHAINSreaction the conference was turned into a think tank to tackle three global issues.
