Biografie en Abstract Johan Beun

Johan G. Beun (Rotterdam, Nl, 1953) first educated as Dutch agriculture specialist (1974), till 1984 employed by one of the worlds’ largest agriculture consultancy comp. After that episode he ran his own consultancy company till 1991. Then he got devoted to better healthcare for chronically ill patients in/outside is own country Netherlands. He has miscellaneous chronic diseases and disabilities himself, thus unfortunately enough expertise also at the client side of healthcare.

Johan is a co-founder (1988) and former chairman of the NVACP (Dutch Addison and Cushing Patients), co-founder (1996) and former board member of the WOCZ (= United Patients' Org. of the Chronically Ill), founder (1997) and advisor of SPIN (= Foundation for Patient Org. & Information Technology) superseded by Sodales Software for patient organizations.

Johan was five years board member of the NPCF (= Fed. of Patients & Consumer Org. in NL), the Dutch patient umbrella organization. Together with others he founded (Oct. 99) EHTEL (= European Health Telematics Association) till 2003 he was a board member. He was (1998/2003) an advisor to various patient organizations on strategic issues. He is a former board member (1998/1999/2000) of MPZ (= Dutch Millennium Committee for Care) and a co-founder (2001) and former board member of NICTIZ (= Dutch Nat. ICT Institute for Healthcare).

He is the founder (2000), chairman of a charity foundation to initiate and support more research for the members of the NVACP.( St Vrienden NVACP) and chairman for the special conference NVACP25 in 2013.

Anno 2010 Johan is ICT – information coordinator/advisor for miscellaneous healthcare provider organizations and a permanent advisor to some of their boards in the fields of good innovative healthcare administration, information policies and strategic issues. He also works in cooperation with the organization Zon – MW (The Dutch Organisation for Health Research and Development is a national organization that promotes quality and innovation in the field of health research and health care, initiating and fostering new developments).
 
Johan has been chairman of many (international) committees, organizations, conferences etc on healthcare, electronic patient records and patient interest. At present he is one of the Dutch activists to get a better position for telemedicine within healthcare and a active promoter to have the domotica world better receptive for the needs of telemedicine. Johan facilitates the standardization work that is presently undertaken in the NEN (NL) and ISO organizations for standardization of processes in telemedicine. Johan is a frequent speaker on international conferences and serves many conferences to be their chairman.

Johan has academic degrees in Agricultural Engineering, Business Administration, Information Technology and EDP auditing. Johan has served four years as NICTIZ Ambassador (= National ICT Institute for Healthcare in NL) and is at present
international advisor to some countries and international organisations to support them in the need to change organisation and to support them in their design of tools and processes around the design & implementation(s) of the EPR (=electronic patient record), the fast and better implementation of e-health, one of the excellent instruments for better patient safety.
