Research on war museums published in
Exhibiting the war. The future of World War II Museums in the Netherlands
The NIOD - Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam has recently published a new book on the future and current state of World War II museums in the Netherlands. This heritage oriented publication by Dr Esther Captain and Dr Kees Ribbens, Tonen van de oorlog. Toekomst voor het museale erfgoed van de Tweede Wereldoorlog, has now been translated into English.

Cultural Dynamics Symposium on 9 April 2010
On 9 April 2010 a symposium will take place at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum as part of the Cultural Dynamics theme programme. The aim of the meeting is to promote the progress of the research and collaboration between the projects.

Results of 2009 subsidy round
The Cultural Dynamics programme committee awarded grants to 11 projects on 5 November 2009. Six projects were successful as part of the second subsidy round of the Cultural Dynamics programme. Five projects were successful under the Dynamics of the Memory programme.

VSB Fonds to fund additional research project
The VSB Fonds plans to broaden its area of activity in the coming years to include the funding of scientific research. To this end, it is seeking collaboration with outside parties who are experienced in assessing, carrying out and monitoring research. NWO is an obvious partner in this respect.

NWO to fund Community Museums Past & Present
Knowing about your own heritage is important for a sense of belonging, and having others appreciate it makes integrating into a new society easier. Community museums can help newcomers find their feet in society. Prof. Marlite Halbertsma and Prof. Paul van de Laar are leading the new research project Community Museums Past & Present, which investigates the relationship between museums and their public.

Results of 2007-2008 subsidy round
DOn 4 February 2008 the Cultural Dynamics programme committee awarded grants totalling €550,000 to 8 projects. The projects are as follows:

Start of Cultural Dynamics theme programme
The new NWO Cultural Dynamics theme programme – a joint programme between the Divisions for the Humanities, Social Sciences and WOTRO – will be officially launched this spring with an initial subsidy round.

Results of preproposals for Smart Mix grants
At the end of September it was announced which preproposals for Smart Mix grants have received the go-ahead to submit a full proposal. Unfortunately, the Cultural Dynamics preliminary proposal was not among them. A total of over 150 preproposals amounting to approximately 2 billion euros were submitted to the Smart Mix secretariat.
