Current projects are those awarded funding by NWO or another national or international body that have not yet been completed on the closing date of this funding round.

Application

Who can apply

Proposals can be submitted by qualified researchers in the field of seagoing research. Each main applicant may only submit one proposal.

What can be applied for

In this funding round ship days on the national research ship Pelagia can be applied for. These ship days are intended for funded research projects that are still in progress when the proposal is submitted. The requested ship time must lie in the second half of 2010 and/or in 2011.

Proposals for ship time must be submitted via Iris (www.iris.nwo.nl). After your proposal has been ranked you will be contacted about the further elaboration of your ship time and the planning for the Cruise Plan 2010-2011. The final allocation depends on the available budget for ship costs and whether or not the proposal fits within the Cruise Plan 2010-2011. Additional costs related to the awarded ship time shall be covered by NIOZ for NIOZ-related applicants and by ALW for all other applicants.

Selection

Criteria

The proposals shall be assessedon the basis of (a) scientific quality of the research project, (b) urgency of the use of extra ship days and (c) the added value of the extra ship days. The number of ship days requested can be adjusted by the evaluation committee.
