GLANCE

In recent years, a shift in the area of parallel and distributed computing towards global systems is visible. Within this framework, the research programme GLANCE (GLobAl computer scieNCE) was developed. The aim of the programme is to stimulate fundamental research on large-scale parallel and distributed systems. The main research themes of the programme are:

• Management and analysis
• Data acquisition and data processing
• Autonomous configuration, composition, and coordination

This programme is part of the I-Science programme cluster. A detailed description of the research themes can be found in chapter 2 of the I-Science programme text. GLANCE has a budget of M€ 4.
