Interactive Multimodal Information eXtraction (IMIX)
IMIX was a joint initiative of the NWO Council for the Humanities and the Council for the Physical Sciences. IMIX ran between 2003 and 2008 and had a budget of 2 million euro for the full project duration.
The IMIX research programme has stimulated new multidisciplinary research in the area of integrated speech and language technologies. It has brought together researchers of information extraction and question-answering systems, speech synthesis and recognition systems, and multimodal human-computer interaction systems. Furthermore, the research programme has stimulated collaboration between academia and industry. The programme formally ended in 2008.
The results of the IMIX programme are published by Springer Verlag in the forthcoming book Interactive Multimodal Question Answering (editors A. van den Bosch and G. Bouma).
IMIX was a part of the larger Dutch-Flemish STEVIN programme, which is targeting HLT research and the development of HLT resources. More information can be found on http://taalunieversum.org/taal/technologie/stevin/.
