Structure of the research programme

The VAM research programme was carried out under the responsibility of the board of the Social Sciences of the NWO.The VAM programme committee came under the board of the Social Sciences and consisted of scientific experts in the field of VAM research themes.
The programme committee was responsible for the coordination and cohesion of the research programme,assesses progress, drew up the budget, and was responsible for the selection and priority setting of proposals according to the programme requirements and quality criteria. The programme committee could also comment on the resources requested in relation to the size of a programme proposal. An ad hoc formed assessment committee assessed whether or not a detailed application was applicable for a subsidy. The board of the Social Sciences carried out a marginal review of the assessment procedure used and its outcome. The secretariat of the programme committee was comprised of employees of NWO Social Sciences.
