EUROCORES

EUROCORES staat voor de ‘European Science Foundation Collaborative Research Programmes Scheme.´ Een EUROCORE is een subsidievorm van de European Science Foundation (ESF). Met dit instrument wil de ESF multinationale samenwerking in Europa stimuleren. De ESF telt 77 leden (Member Organisations) uit 30 landen: academies, onderzoeksorganisaties en onderzoeksfinanciers, waaronder NWO. Onderwerpen voor EUROCORES kunnen bij de ESF worden aangedragen door onderzoekers zelf, de leden, door ESF commissies (Standing Committees) of expert-groepen (Expert Groups). De ESF werkt een potentiële EUROCORE uit en legt deze voor, aan de aangesloten onderzoeksorganisaties. Zodra minimaal 4 organisaties uit 4 verschillende landen het voorstel goedkeuren, zet de ESF een Call for proposal voor onderzoekers uit. EUROCORES zijn mogelijk in alle wetenschapsgebieden.

NWO neemt deel aan de EUROCORES omdat de EUROCORES van de ESF - net als de ERA-NET’s van de Europese Commissie – leiden tot grensoverschrijdende samenwerking én competitie. Dat biedt onderzoekers kansen om te excelleren.
