Researchers can submit proposals digitally using the electronic application system Iris. This system can also be used to upload progress reports and information about personnel.
Who can submit a proposal?
The various grant schemes provide detailed information about the procedures followed and who is eligible to apply for funding.
Generally speaking, grants are open to researchers who hold a tenured position at a Dutch university or one of the institutes recognised by NWO. For some programmes further restrictions apply, whereas for others the criteria are less stringent. The details are provided with each individual grant scheme. The majority of grants are subject to NWO's General Terms and Conditions.
