Who can apply
The programme is open toapplications from researchers with a PhD degree at Dutch universities or NWO and Royal Netherlands Academy institutes. Strictly for this programme, researchers with a PhD degree connected to an institute of the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) or the Telematics Institute may also apply.
What can be applied for
Subsidies for personnel and material costs:
- a maximum of 200,000 euro for short-term research (no more than 30 months) that has relevance for policy;
When can be applied
For short-term research there is an annual subsidy round through to 2006.
Extra Information
The Network programme is mainly focused on:
- Empirical social-scientific and technology-oriented research aimed at the present and particularly at expectations for the future.
- Making available adequate data and indicators by composing a data collection.
- Knowledge transmission of achieved results.
Criteria
The main selection criteria for proposals are:
- Connection to and relevance for the core research programme.
- Scientific quality.
- Scientific significance.
- Societal relevance.
- Policy relevance.

Procedure
A researcher/applicant is allowed to submit more than one preliminary application. Each applicant, however, can only put in one definitive, fully worked-up proposal. If the applicant receives several invitations to work up a proposal, he/she must select which application is to be worked up.

The total budget for this subsidy form amounts to 4 million euro: 3.2 million for short-term research and 0.8 million for long-term.
