Objective

In the Ethics, Research and Government programme problems are studied from a normative-ethical perspective. The programme focuses particularly on:

  • questions concerning the desirability and acceptability of scientific research aimed at developing new technologies (biotechnology, informatics, medical technology etc.) and their social implementation
  • questions concerning the government’s role in developing and implementing new technologies
  • central societal issues and the government’s role in approaching them.

No applications can be submitted. The programme runs from 2002 to 2009.

Extra Information

A main objective of the Ethics, Research and Government programme is to analyse the nature and background of moral questions evoked by new developments in science and technology and by the applications of those developments in society. There is particular attention for those questions that confront policy makers. In addition the programme aims to contribute towards the formation of shared moral frameworks in a pluralistic and democratic society.
