The primary threats to modern society involve human behaviour, from overpopulation, criminality, addiction, depression and racism to cultural conflict. Insight in the evolution of behaviour may provide a framework for explanations and solutions.
The Evolution and Behaviour programme has three objectives: 1. improving insight into the evolutionary basis of human behaviour 2. encouraging evolutionary approaches in social and behavioural sciences 3. reinforcing cooperation between life sciences and social and behavioural sciences
Three research themes prevail: 1. the evolutionary process 2. the adaptive nature of human behaviour 3. evolutionary principles of social and economic institutions
When can be applied
In summer 2004 the last call for proposals was launched. There will be no more funding possibilities in this programme.
