Transformations in Art and Culture

This programme encourages research into current and historical transformations in art and culture. The focus is on three prominent transformation processes: technologisation, commercialisation and globalisation.

Who can apply

Senior researchers at Dutch institutes of higher education and/or researchers at institutes recognised by NWO. Researchers at institutes not recognised by NWO can submit applications in cooperation with senior university researchers.

What can be applied for

Subsidies for duo-projects of postdoctorals and trainee research assistants of at most 350,000 euro per project, and programme subsidies (postdoctorals, trainee research assistants and replacements) of at most 453,800 euro per project. In case projects are larger than these sums cofinancing is required.

When can be applied

At this moment no applications can be submitted. The programme runs from 2002 to 2009.

Extra Information

The goal of this research programme is twofold. On the one hand the aim is to map and clarify phenomena that are connected with important transformations in art and culture with a view to better understanding recent practices and creations of art and culture and devising theories of them. On the other hand the research will be aimed at forming theories in the context of an interdisciplinary research programme where the object is to attain conceptual clarification of and reflection on methods and approaches.
