Responsible Innovation - First autumn meeting
20 October 2009
The first autumn meeting of the thematic research programme Responsible Innovation (MVI) is now open for registrations. The MVI projects involve research into ethical and societal questions raised by technological developments, such as neurosciences, nanotechnology, biotechnology and ICT. Areas of concern include safety, health, privacy, responsibility and research output.
Questions for discussion during the first annual meeting of the SRI theme include:
- What is the current status of research into ethical and social aspects of technological developments?
- Which developments will become topical in the near future?
- Why is this research important and what contribution can SRI make?
- How can society benefit from the research results?
A diverse programme has been developed to discuss these questions, some of the highlights are:
Plenary presentations that include the openings keynote by Prof.dr Armin Grunwald, chairman of the MVI Advisory Board, and mini presentations on a variety of MVI topics by five project leaders. The conference will be closed with a panel discussion on the MVI programme and technological innovation.
Workshops concentrating in three main themes and characteristics of the MVI programme; the 'make' perspective, the multidisciplinary cooperation within the research teams and the role of ethics in the research.
And last but not least an information market, where the 16 projects from the first round of proposals will present their research and give you the chance to get involved. The MVI-bureau will have a stand as well to give information on the second call for proposals.
